Avengers are the champs
The Pioneer Hockey League in Campbell River has finished its 2016/2017 season after a hard-fought championship game between the Ice Dogs, and the Avengers.
The Ice dogs held a 2-1 lead going into the final period, but the avengers continued to battle eventually taking a 4-3 lead late into the period. Kirby Jacques tied the game with just minutes left in the game to send it to Overtime.
With 1:26 left on the clock in overtime, rookie defensemen Jeff Lange lead a rush from his own zone and let a snap shot go from the top of the left circle to beat the Ice dogs goalie low stick side, and secured the prestigious PHL championship for his team with the 5-4 victory.
