Riley Michael’s clean sweep in the Level 3 (13-over) classification paced the Campbell River Gymnastics Association at the Carol Lenz Memorial Invitational in Surrey last week.
The club sent all of its boys and its level 8 girls to the competition and returned with three all-around gold medals and two more all-around podium finishes.
Michael swept the rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar, pommel horse and floor exercise and added the all-around for a haul of seven gold medals in the boys level 3 division.
For the Junior Olympic Level 8 girls, both Brooklyn Batch and Reese Wheeldon claimed all-around gold. Wheeldon won in the 2001-02 age group, while Batch won the 2003-04 class, and was closely followed by teammate and silver medalist Chloe Doyon.
Janika Scriba completed the four-member CRGA Level 8 girls squad, which won first place in the Level 8-9 combined categories despite having the smallest team in the competition. Scriba placed fourth all-around at JO Level 8 (2001-02).
Liam Deagle added another top-three all-round honour for CRGA, claiming bronze in the boys Level 4 (over 13) competition.
