Free clinics at the curling club will get you out on the ice

Those planning on attending are expected to be present each of the three nights

There will be “free” Adult Beginner and Intermediate curling clinics happening on Monday, September 28; Tuesday, September 29; Wednesday, September 30 at the curling club.

Those planning on attending are expected to be present each of the three nights as the instructors will be building on and reviewing skills taught the previous night.

The Beginner clinic will run for an hour each night beginning at 6:30. Beginners will learn the basic delivery and brushing techniques. Those attending the Beginner clinic should arrive at 6:10 to allow time to change shoes and do some stretching before heading to the ice.

Beginners should wear warm, loose, comfortable clothing (sweatpants are great), and carry in a pair of flat-soled shoes to wear on the ice (runners are excellent). Beginners will play a 2-end mini-game on the third night of the clinic.

The Intermediate clinic (for curlers who have 1 year or more experience) will run from 8-9 p.m. each night. Intermediate curlers will have a chance to improve their deliveries and brushing techniques and play a two-end mini-game the last night to try out their new skills. If you are planning to attend either clinic, or have any questions, please call the curling club manager, Susan, at 250-287-4200 to register.

Walk-ins are also welcome, but advance registration is appreciated. A team of excellent instructors will be offering their expertise, so don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Come on out and try a new sport or improve on your current skills.  See you at the club.
