Eight Campbell River Salmon Kings head to summer swimming provincials

Many swimmer post their best times at event

After eight Campbell River Salmon Kings qualified with top three results at the Vancouver Island Regional Championships, the local swimmers won the opportunity to attend the BCSSA 60th Provincial Championships. The event took place at the Guildford Recreation Centre in Surrey last weekend.

The BC Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA) represents a number of sports: speed swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming. It is made up of more than 60 from across B.C., representing more than 5,000 athletes from around the province.

Even with smoky, hot temperature, the Salmon King athletes swam well, with every one placing top 16 in preliminaries, which allowed them to swim again in the finals. A number of the swimmers also posted their best times at the meet.
