The Campbell River Curling Club wrapped up its season with 24 teams playing in the North Island Co-op Gas Bar Mixed Open.

The A-Event sponsored by Andrew Veldhuis of ABL Electric was given out to the Dean Thulin Rink of Campbell River. In the final he was up against long time competitor Richard Tanguay, (Comox) but it seems this was Thulin’s year – last year he took the B-Event. Thulin’s rink included D’Arcy Cato, Don Barnowsky and Gayle Barnowsky.

The B-Event sponsored by KLP Construction, was won by the Ken Dawson Rink of Campbell River. Dawson combined with Linda Thulin, Graeme Boyd and Dana Dawson who

played against good friends of the Campbell River Curling Club the Ray Michell rink from Comox Valley.

The C-Event sponsored by Pioneer Home Hardware was won by the Cliff Carr-Hilton Rink. Carr-Hilton puts together a once a year team of Ashley Chapman, Adina Maxwell and Kevin Maxwell. They had a strong game against the Glen Vlaj rink of Campbell River.

Club manager Susan Johnson, along with event Chair John LaPointe would like to send a huge thank-you to Jim Clarkson at the North Island Co-op Gas Bar for being the major sponsor and supporting the Campbell River Curling Club.

Susan and John also thank everyone from the Comox Valley Curling Club for their continued support of local Spiels.

This wraps up the club’s 50th Anniversary year at the Campbell River Curling Club and it was an incredible, memorable year says Susan Johnson. Anyone interested in trying curling next season can join one of the club’s free learn to curl clinics.
