The Campbell River Comets Track & Field Club turned its annual season windup celebration into a mock track meet, with athletes “competing” in events dreamed up by their coaches. Some of these were the Australian Hurdles, Oh Canada Relay, Hammer Toss and Water Balloon High Jump.

Always a highlight, the water balloon fight at the end of the evening even got the coaches and parents involved. It was especially welcome this year due to the very hot weather. There was much food, fun and laughs had by all.

The Comets had a very good year, with many of the athletes continuing to train for their upcoming provincials championships. The B.C. Championship Jamboree (for athletes 14 years and older) will be held in Nanaimo July 10-12.  For those 9-13 years of age, the B.C. Junior Development Championships will be in Kamloops July 17-19.
