Vancouver Island boys basketball championships being held at Carihi

The Carihi Tyees earned a berth in the Vancouver Island boys basketball championships after two straight victories over Victoria and Wellington.

Carihi is hosting the Island Championships.

In Carihi’s opening game on Thursday, they defeated Victoria 76-34. The Tyees regained the lead in the fourth quarter and hung on for the win before a near-capacity crowd at the Carihi gymnasium.

Carihi plays Mark Isfeld Ice for the title at 7:45 p.m. this evening at Carihi. Isfeld required three overtime periods to defeat Vanier yesterday.
