Blue Thunder Contracting Ltd. Bantam B Tyees battled to a 6-2 win on home ice Saturday playing against Juan De Fuca for top position in the Island.

With a one-point advantage, and heading to Port Alberni Sunday , all the Tyees needed was a tie game against the Bull Dogs to take home the banner.

The game started after a long drive from Campbell River for a 3:15 p.m. game.  Thirty seconds into the Island banner game,  the Bantam B Tyees  scored, making their mark and showing they were hungry for the win.

Then the Bull Dogs took a penalty and the Tyees took advantage of the situation, finding the net behind Port Alberni’s giant goaltender and making the game 2-0.

The Tyees ended the second period with a 4-1 lead. Hard work gained them a strong lead and secured an advantage going into the third.

In the third, the Tyees fell behind as the Bull Dogs gained strength through Tyee missteps making the pressure nearly unbearable to watch as the Tyees clung to a 5-4 lead.

The Bantam B Tyees held it together late in the third knowing they could win the banner 5-4.

As the clock ran down, the Bantam B Tyees held it together and when the clock ran out celebrated bringing home the Island banner.
