On May 3-5, Eagles darts players came to Campbell River to compete in the Eagles Provincial Dart Tournament, hosted by FOE 3097.

The weekend held lots of competitive fun for the 30 players who competed in the four events, for both men and women.

Friday night began with a fun meet and greet type of event called a mixed blind draw. This means that names are drawn and you play with whom ever was drawn for you. Many laughs and great dart play was evident on all boards while we got to know each

other.

The winners of the event were Roy White and Steve Saunders (CR), while second place was taken by Joe Plouffe (Abbotsford) and Wendy Acorn (CR) and combined third place went to Ernie Vogt (Abbotsford) and Sharon Sanford (CR) and Renee Paquette (Abbotsford) and Louise Watts (CR).

Saturday morning saw the women playing their singles event while the men played their doubles. In the afternoon the events switched and the men completed their singles while the women competed in their doubles partners event.

Winners for the Singles event for the men were:

- Second place - Ernie Vogt

- Joint third place - Renee Paquette and Chantel Wynia (both Abbotsford)

The Ladies Aux kept the players fed throughout the day with a wide variety of foods that kept them fueled for play and the Eagle’s staff kept the ‘aiming juice’ flowing.

While bodies and minds were tired, the competition was fierce while the fun continued.

This year, teams event consisted of three instead of four players per team and could be made up of of any combination of gender. They all played on an equal basis for the team trophy. Next year they will continue with the three players and will all play against each other but will compete for both a ladies’ and a men’s trophy.

Perfect scores of 180 were shot by Roy White.

High Scores were shot by Joe Plouffe (174) and Sharon Sanford (174).

Lots of door prizes and raffles donated by wonderful sponsors were given out and were one of the highlights of the tournament. words of appreciation went to the FOE 3097 Aeries and Auxillary, bartenders and staff, Boston Pizza, London Drugs, MacDonalds, Home Depot, Inland Trucking, Fastenal, OK Tire, Auto King, Wes Wilkinson Plumbing, CR Hot Tubs, Finning,CR Bowling /Ryan’s Pizzeria, Wendy and Lou Acorn, Roy White, Tim Wiege and Sharon Sanford.

They are always looking for new dart players so if any novice or experienced ladies or gents out there want to play (or learn), they have a league from September until April and they also have a year around fun, mixed, 5$ drop in at the Eagles every Monday night at 6:30.
