Bantam B Tyees notch a pair of wins

The Ironside Contracting Bantam B Tyees continued their quest this weekend to come out on top of the tier III standings.

The Tyees played two games at Rod Brind’Amour Arena, hosting Sooke, who beat the Tyees in the gold medal game of their Christmas tournament.

The Tyees were ready for the rematch and took the lead early in the second period and never looked back, beating the Sooke Thunderbirds 5-3.

Goals for the Tyees came from Jake McKenzie, Darian Swift, Ben Manson, Jarret Knowles, and Maddison Devlin.

Sunday the Tyees took on the Victoria Ice Hawks. After a strong first period with goals from Tyees Gage Crawford, McKenzie, and Julia Wing they continued a strong defensive game.

Mckenzie scored his second goal of the game in the third and the Tyees shut out the Ice Hawks 4-0. The Tyees netminder Mike Sampson got the shut out.

The Tyees can come out on top of the tier III standings with a win in their final league game which they play at home on Saturday at 4 p.m. Regardless of the outcome, the Bantam B Tyees are coming on strong and ready for playoffs which start the beginning of February.
