The Tyees opened the weekend on Saturday in Parksville. The Oceanside Generals opened the scoring just three minutes into the first period, but the Tyees answered back with singles from Jalen Price, Davis Frank, Dakota Sinclair and Noah Fladager.

Assists for the first period would go to Cole Devlin, Bryce Narhi, Gordon Ludvigson, and Coulsen McCartney. Oceanside would get one more goal, but Campbell River led 4-2 after 20 minutes.

Four more Tyee goals would be scored in the second period, with a second goal for Price and two from River Fahey. Grady Robertson would round off the scoring with assists going to Kayle Majic and Owen Parker.

The final period saw Oceanside push back with three goals, but the Tyees scored two more from Fahey and Ludvigson for a comfortable 10-5 victory.

Sunday’s final game against Victoria proved to be an intense battle, with both teams coming out strong. Owen Parker opened the scoring for Campbell River with Price following suit shortly after for a 2-0 lead.

Victoria would not back down and answered back with two goals of their own to end first period tied 2-2.

Victoria would strike first in the second, but the Tyees came back with three goals of their own, scored by Fladager, Fahey and Frank, for a 5-3 lead at the end of two periods.

The final frame was an end-to-end affair, but it would be the Tyees’ special teams taking control of the game with three power play goals and a five-on-three penalty kill.

Fahey tallied his second of the game with assists going to Fladager and Narhi, then Fladager scored on a tip from a Logan Chapdelaine point shot, with the helper going to Brendan Almer.

Price would get one more goal, assisted by Evan Fox, ending the game in a 8-5 victory for the Tyees. Goalie Sami Ellis made some key saves for the Tyees and the team hard hat was given to the entire squad for a great team effort.

The Atom A Tyees have ended their 2011-2012 season as both league champions and Island champions.
