Pipe dreaming

Letters to the Editor

Mr. Don Blower in his letter to the Campbell River Mirror on Nov. 20, 2015 suggested a pipeline corridor for oil and gas to West Coast tidewater, sponsored by Canadian senior governments and the oil industry.

Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper developed Canada into a world oil producer. With a high Canadian dollar, high oil prices and a great energy demand in Asia, Canada did quite well. But in today’s economic reality, with low oil prices and a low Canadian dollar it makes no sense to sell $80 a barrel of oil from the tarsands for less than $50 on the world market and why should senior governments pay for such a pipe dream?
