OUR VIEW: What is it that you pursue?

Our pursuits are the key to a successful New Year’s resolution

People are geared to pursue.

We pursue strong careers, healthy relationships, happy families, money, faith, vacations, hobbies, sports, and dozens of other things.

We as a people love to discover new things, to look back and see growth and improvement in the different spheres of our lives.

As we reflect on the past year gone by, the lessons learned and the ways we have grown, it’s neat to see how our  experiences have shaped us.

We often criminalize being too busy and that can definitely be a problem, but activity in itself isn’t bad.

After all, it is through our activities – and from the people we spend time with – that we learn the most.

In fact, our activities often come to define us, shaping what we think about and invest in.

So looking at what has filled our days in the last year, it’s important to ask whether our activities reflect what we most care about and want to pursue.

If we want to be healthy, are we involved in things that help us stay active?

Are we eating properly and getting adequate nutrition?

If we want a strong marriage, are we investing enough time to foster that relationship?

It’s easy to get pulled into doing things that we enjoy, and wind up skimping on the things that we consider most important.

Thus, as we enter a new year, lets shape our busyness based on what’s most important.

What are you pursuing?
