Inaction created the current situation, not the art gallery

If I have ever been upset with the decisions of council before you have collectively topped it with a naive and uninformed decision about the art gallery.

To say it is a bad neighbour is insulting and one worth self insight. I know from where I speak.

For many many years our business has sponsored the gallery. Further, my wife put countless hours as treasurer, not only being involved in hiring great directors, but helping to keep the gallery operating financially.

Over the many years there have been articles printed around the world about the value of art galleries to the communities. One need to only enter our home to see local art. Indeed for many years we sponsored kids art learning Saturdays to continue and foster interest.

I might also remind council that for about 20 years the city has stated the centre would be re-located. Has this happened? NO!

Also did the art gallery place the washrooms near the centre? NO.

I am sincerely sorry there has been a collection of homeless near the Art Gallery. The gallery has no blame.

It has been the complete inaction, in spite of promises, that has created the situation.

I am disgusted I voted for so many of the current decision makers. I honestly believed there was some intelligent thought process in our future. This decision belies those thoughts.

Art galleries create thousands of revenue dollars. Will this continue ?
