Food Bank says thanks

Just when we think this community has done all it can, you astound us once more

Campbell River...you’ve done it again!  Just when we think this community has done all it can, you astound us once more.

With the assistance of Dave Reynolds and his team of volunteers and “The River” staff, you filled three 54-foot trailers with food for the Campbell River Food Bank this Christmas season...and you did it all in just over 10 days. Not only that, but your cash donations brought in over $8,000 as well with that effort.

Your remarkable help will carry us through, in large part, until Easter.  We are providing food packages to upwards of 1900 folks every month, of which about 40 per cent are children. With your help, the quality of those packages increases as significant donations arrive.

Personally, I have been involved with our Food Bank for over 25 years. I have never seen your generosity demonstrated so keenly as this year...and in a year where everyonE is feeling the pinch acutely.  From the Board, and especially from the recipients of your help, thank you Campbell River.

I would be remiss if I did not recognize Ann and George Minosky, our managers who go far beyond the “job,” the many volunteers who come to the Food Bank to work each day, our volunteer directors, our grocery stores particularly and the many companies in our area who, although they are also feeling the economic pinch, continue to contribute substantially to the Food Bank operation. Clubs, societies, groups, the schools and just ordinary folk like yourselves make it all “work.” Each contribution, no matter how small it may be, combines with others to pay the bills and buy food. Once again, thank you and may this year 2012 be healthy, safe and hopeful for us all.
