‘Anything done too haphazard will cause more pain and destruction’: Letter

In Answer and Retort to Marc Kitteringham April 24 column.

Marc, to put it in a nutshell, your generation and others since has been sold out by the propping-up of the lifestyle of the boomers (my generation) for the last 40 years. They printed money to pay for services they did not deserve.

In a word, socialism, no matter what political party was in power, just continued the process of punishing incentive and then taxed away reward. Socialism, the process of taxing and redistribution, always eventually fails. Go read the economic histories of very resource rich nations like Venezuela and Argentina to understand how these nations self-destruct by reckless money printing and gross socialist mismanagement in the quest of fairness.

As you wrote, you drifted onto the “proven debate of climate change.” Oh, the vaulted topic at the center of the elites (World Economic Forum) – fear porn. Do not question the opinions of scientists who are never wrong. I am old enough to remember a time in the 1970’s when Leonard Nimoy stated on the TV “All the scientists agree with one voice that we were on the cusp of a new Ice Age.”

Yes, CO2 levels are rising but there are other solutions, like planting trees in huge proportions worldwide. Taxes are not the solution. Diversification of energy sources and slow phasing out of hydrocarbon is a practical solution over many decades. Anything done too haphazard will cause more pain and destruction to the world economy.

Marc there is no reason to be “terrified.” Let’s man-up together and have constructive dialogue. Inclusion of all opinions to be considered and then make informed and non-hysterical decisions.
