November 25, 1943 – July 15, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce Bill passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022.
Bill is survived by Bonnie, his loving wife, friend, and travel partner of 53 years; his son Paul (Cheryl); daughter Marie (Phil); grandchildren Anna, Gavin and Oliver; nephew Mark (Rose) and niece Sabrina.
Together, we will remember his kindness, keen sense of humour, and gift for telling a story. There was nothing he loved more than a road trip with Bonnie.
The highlight of his teenage years was being a member of the 676 Kittyhawk Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in Sidney, BC. Bill earned his wings at the age of 17 and had a lifetime love of small planes.
Bill had a 35 year career in the Corporate Communications Department of BC Hydro, retiring in a Senior Management position. Bill appreciated his co-workers, the team effort of his staff, and being a mentor to many over the years.
Family was deeply important to Bill and he has left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories. We are grateful for the life he shared with us, including the integrity, values, and humour he demonstrated everyday. Moving to Campbell River two years ago to be close to family enriched his life immensely.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses involved in his care in the ER and on Ward 3A for their kindness shown to Bill during his stay at the Campbell River Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Luke Chen at Vancouver General Hospital for his care over the last few years.
Bill was a true gentleman who deeply valued his family and friends.
“Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings”
