1934 - 2019 ~ It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wesley James Stephens on June 2nd at the age of 84. Wesley was born at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver and spent his first few years in Powell River.
When he was very young the family settled in Jennis Bay where his father had a logging business. Having grown up in a float house and being home schooled by his mother he had a great deal of freedom in the outdoors. When he reached high school age he went to live with his Uncle's family on their farm in the Arrow Lakes region. He finished his high school while
boarding in Victoria and then went on to Victoria College.
He began his career in the telephone industry with Canadian Telephone & Supplies and was stationed in the offices of BC Tel in Campbell River in the early 1960s. Wesley married his wife, Joan, in 1966 and they settled in their home on the Highway on New Year's Eve that year. Sons, Craig and Dreyer, joined the family during the next few years.
He also leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Sandra Harrison and family, his brother Jody Stephens and family, his grandson Rhys, and his wonderful telephone company work mates and his neighbours. There will be no memorial as per his request and donations can be made in his name to the Campbell River SPCA.
