May 16, 1953 - March 27, 2025

In loving memory ~

Walter Lancashire was born May 16, 1953, in Ocean Falls, BC. He left us too soon on March 27, 2025, at the age of seventy-one, after a short battle with Multiple Myeloma. He left an unimaginable void in the lives of his family and friends. It is difficult to say goodbye to such a kind and beloved soul.

Walter had a wonderful life full of adventures. He lived most of his years in Campbell River with some early days on Quadra Island, Forward Harbour, and Greene Point Rapids, where he worked as a tugboat skipper and commercial fisherman. Most people would recognize him by some of the boats he owned and fished on the local waters, the Riptide, Arbutus Isle, Misty Raider, Saila, and Longfin. He was a well-respected mariner and lost many friends to the sea. Over the years, Walter was blessed with six children. Erin (Simon), Sol (Dorothy), Rosellen (Jim), Leo (Stacie), Ofelia, Amelia (Cole) and grandchildren Ryder, Marley, Matthew, Ella, Thomas, and Mareena, who were all so precious to him. Walter will also be missed by his sister Tracey (Bill) and many extended family members.

Please join us for a Celebration of his Life on Friday June 13th at 3 pm at the Maritime Heritage Center. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to all of those who supported him in his fight for the last year, and his final days.

To the friends who came by to see him and the hospital staff and specialists who did their best to keep him with us longer. If he had any wishes to bestow, it would be to follow his lead and be the best person you can, be gentle with the earth, enjoy your family every day, have a campfire, enjoy a sunset, and play some good music.
