With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vonnie Erickson, our mother. After a six year struggle with Alzheimers, with close family members by her side, Vonnie found peace.
Vonnie leaves behind her husband Herb of 52 years, daughters, Donna Erickson (Wayne), Lisa Runacres (Brian), Lori Ritchie (Warren), and sons, Wayne Erickson (Tami), Mike Erickson (April), seven grandchildren: Joel, Kim, Krista, Troy, Eric, Alysha and Duncan, three great grandchildren: Nathan, Josh and Riley. Vonnie is also survived by her sisters: Mary, Theresa, Betty and Pauline as well as many nieces and nephews.
Vonnie was born at North Sydney, NS, moved to Toronto as a young woman where she worked for Bell Telephone and met Herb, then came out to Vancouver, BC where they married and started their family. They eventually moved to Hudsons Hope, BC where they homsteaded, and raised their children.
Family meant everything to Vonnie, which she showed in so many ways, one of which was sewing, from dresses for all the girls to muckluks full of beadwork for her boys. She was a fabulous cook who was always more than happy to set an extra place at the family table and generously welcome another.
Vonnie had an endless supply of unconditional love to give to family, friends and everyone. Her beautiful twinkling blue eyes and infectious smile touched many who came in contact with her.
The family wishes to thank the staff, and volunteers at Yucalta Lodge, and Dr. McFadden.
A celebration of Vonnie’s life will be held this summer.
Mom you will be missed, and forever close to our hearts.
