Vernon Ernest

Vernon was born in Fort Francis Ontario to Fred & Ada Breckon. He was the 3rd born child of eight. He was predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Ada Breckon, his brothers Robert and Joseph Breckon, sisters Dorothy Sephton, Mary Trumble, and Marjorie Frizzley, his wife Helen and sons Michael and Vincent.

He is survived by 2 sisters Loretta Smyth (Harvey), Kathleen Husband; his daughters: Sherry Breckon (Mike), Laura Breckon, Tracy Hnidy (Michael); grandchildren: Tanya, Angela, Charlene, Shannon, Shawna, Miranda, Casey, Judy, Curt and Neil, great grandchildren, Emma, Malachi, Caleb, Joshua, Brianna, Romen and Alexis.

Vern was a veteran of the 2nd World War. He served in the army and was stationed in Scotland. He moved to BC following the war, and resided in Vancouver where he worked in the logging industry. In the 50's he moved to Campbell River where he met his wife Helen and started his family. His work took them to Sayward where he worked for MacMilland Bloedel. They later moved back to Campbell River in 1970 where he spent the rest of his years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. His last few years were spent in Sunshine Lodge and Yucalta Lodge.

Thank you to the staff at both facilities for his care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sutton's Funeral Chapel at 502 S. Dogwood St. at 1:00p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 with a reception to follow next door at the Elks Hall.

Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion.
