Nineteen nieces and nephews and their families. He was affectionally called Uncle 'T'
Terry was born in Port Alice and at a young age moved to Port Moody.
His teenage years were spent in East Vancouver where he and his best bud Eddy Watson spent their childhood.
He moved with his family to campbell river in 1961 and graduated from carihi in 1962 at the age of 17.
After graduation he moved back to his beloved Vancouver and a year later an opportunity to return to Campbell River to work on construction at the Elk Falls Pulpmill became available.
In July of 1964 he was hired at the mill itself in the steam plant and started his career as a stationery engineer. He spent 27 years in the steam plant where he received his 3rd class ticket but his dream was always to be an electrician. At the age of 45 this opportunity presented itself. His next 5 years were spent in the apprenticeship program and he received his journeyman papers in December 1995. Terry was a proud and active member of the apprenticeship committee with Elk Falls.
Retirement from elk falls in 2004, after 40 years, lasted one week. He felt he had not spent enough years of being an electrician, a job he cherished and so he spent the next 2 years working at the hospital. From there he went to peace river to work for Nomad Electric. In 2010 he had the opportunity to return to the Island with Nanaimo as his base. The next years were spent working in Nanaimo, Port Moody, North Vancouver and Fort McMurray until the age of 70. All of these experiences enabled us to travel to Mexico every year for a month, his happy place. He enjoyed the warmth of the sun and the friendly people. His last trip ended just as the world changed but he looked forward to returning as soon as it would be safe.
The family would like to thank Dr. Potts and his staff in emergency as well as Camille and the attendants who traveled with him by ambulance to Duncan. We know you did everything you could to save him. We'd also like to thank our family doctor - Dr. D Douglas for his care over the years.
I would also like to thank the many people who have reached out to the family with their prayers and thoughts and the beautiful flowers. It's humbling to know so many people care. Please do not hesitate to drop over if you have a story to share or wish to say hello.
He was a proud and hardworking man his whole life and was never so proud as to say two of his sons followed in his footsteps as electricians.
