1948-2020 ~ Terry passed quietly away Wednesday, July 8. He is survived by wife Patricia Trasolini and daughter Breigh Huggins (Rich) and step-daughter Sunny Parsons (Trenton Dean); granddaughters Rell and Westerly Huggins and Esme Dean. Also survived by brother Robert Moist (Linda) and nephew Russell Moist (Jaqueline and their children Damien and Kaylan) and sister Dawn Aleknevicus and niece Dorothy Glaicar (husband Pete; children Gates and Kale) and nephew Greg Aleknevicus (Heather) and so many heartbroken friends.
Terry received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and later Professional Teacher Certification at UBC in the late 60's and taught Law, Accounting and Bookkeeping before finding his passion in Special Education. He taught his entire career in school district #72 - as teacher at Inpro, Lakeview and finally Elm Street Alternate School and he served briefly as CRDTA president.
Terry's drive to help the underdog led him to the board of John Howard North Island where he has served for the past 42 years and helped to build the incredible array of programs JHNI offers. In 2014 Terry was awarded the Anthony J. Hulme Lifetime Achievement Award by the Justice Ministry for his contributions to the community and people in need with the ultimate goal of crime prevention.
Terry's father, Harold Moist, was a Navy officer and Terry grew up with a love of sailing and the sea. This led him to purchase his beloved Allamanda - the Alberg 29 that possibly edged out Patricia as the love of his life. Terry was able to build or fix just about anything with self- taught skills in carpentry, mechanics and plumbing, however electrical stuff made him nervous - that did not stop him, it just made him nervous.
Instead of flowers the family requests donations be made to John Howard North Island's KidStart Program.
