It is with great sadness the we announce the passing of Stephen Kuehnel on May 15th, 2018 from a tragic and sudden cardiac arrest. Stephen was the respected and successful President of Apple Electric Ltd.
Stephen was born in Edmonton and moved to Campbell River at the age of three. He was raised and educated in Campbell River where he later went on to raise his own family.
Stephen was a loving father, grandfather, son, grandson, brother, uncle and cousin. He lived his life with passion, intensity and was always ready for any challenge that came his way. Stephen will be remembered for his selfless generosity to his family, friends and community.
Stephen had many passions in life; he loved skiing and camping, adventures he shared with his boys through the various trips taken around Vancouver Island and the B.C interior. As a loyal Canucks fan, Stephen held season tickets for close to a decade; he both attended games himself, and shared his passion by passing his tickets on to others. From a young age, Stephen had a love for music, his taste and enthusiasm often influenced those around him. Stephen also enjoyed fishing; the annual Apple Electric fishing trip to Bamfield became legend among all those who shared in the experience.
Stephen is predeceased by his father Wolfgang Kuehnel at the age of 52 from a stroke. Stephen is survived by his mother Carol Couture, sons Bryan and Nathan Kuehnel, beloved grandson Evan Kuehnel and grandmother Joan Couture.
He is also survived by his siblings, brother Peter Kuehnel (Georgia), sisters, Susan Couture, Stephanie Armbrust (Gary) (nee Kuehnel) and Lisa Kuehnel. Stephen will also be sadly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, his many friends and business associates.
A family celebration of life, will be held at a later date.
