Stephen James

Curley

June 1, 1950- November 15, 2012

It is so hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful man. Steve passed away late Thursday evening on November 15, 2012. He had been battling with various health issues for the past few years but was active in family life to the end.

Steve was born and raised in Victoria, BC. He was always active in sports from a young age playing hockey and baseball. He loved music and sang in choir when he was young. He had a wonderful singing voice. He passed his love for music on to his family. After high school, Steve moved to Port Alice where he became an industrial electrician at the pulp mill there. He loved to boat, fish and camp. Wanting to move closer to his home town, he put in an application at the Elk Falls Mill and was hired right away. He retired from the mill when it closed.

He loved to golf and joined the Campbell River Golf and Country Club when he first moved to Campbell River. When Storey Creek Golf Club was built, he was one of the first to join. A dream of many golfers is to go to Scotland and golf St. Andrews. He was very lucky to be one of those to go.

Steve loved to travel and discovered golf lessons and cruises did go together and was able to try a few courses in the Caribbean. He also loved all the fun RV/golf trips to Gold River and POrt Alberni with a great group of friends and the trip to Hemel, Ca. He coached the Special Olympics bowling team for 5 years and enjoyed working with the athletes.

Steve was such a positive person. The world was truly blessed to have him in it.

He leaves behind his loving wife Nancy, stepsons who he was very proud of, Aaron (Jenny) and Joel (Ashlee), granddaughter Elizabeth, his brother Alex (Val) Curley, also his brothers-in-law Dave (Elfreida) Macklin, Mike (Gloria) Macklin, Norm (Sherry) Macklin, sisters-in-law Jenny (Chuck) Green, mother-in-law June BcBride, father-in-law Tom(Verna) Macklin, nieces Julie, Emily, Krista, Melissa, Andrea and Janessa, nephew Eric (Crista) Macklin, and many aunts, uncles and cousins on the mainland.

A privated family service will be held in Victoria.
