February 11, 1948-December 9, 2016

It is with great sorrow that we say good-bye to our wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend. Shirley is survived by her husband Ove of 49 years; sons George (Tamie), Rob (Michelle); grandchildren Kait, Darien, Garson, Corbyn, Rylan and many family and friends.

Shirley passed away peacefully on the snowy morning of December 9th after a brave battle against ovarian cancer. Shirley was born in Comox into a family of 6 siblings and grew up in Victoria, BC. After marrying Ove, they moved to Fort MacMurray for work then back to Victoria and on to Sayward where they called it home for 20 years. They have spent 20 plus years of retirement in Black Creek. During these years, Shirley always put others first. She had a big heart and kind smile, worked in restaurants and shops in town, but the thing that brought her the most joy were her family and grandchildren. Maintaining a beautiful garden, watching her grandchildren play sports, crafting with family & friends, large family campouts or travelling with Ove...Shirley was always up for an adventure. We will all miss her dearly but we now have a snow angel watching from above.

Many thanks to Dr.Prinsloo, Dr. Friedrichs, the wonderful nurses in cancer care and on the 2nd floor of the Campbell River Hospital. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date.
