In loving memory ~

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sharon Ann Motion on February 8th at the age of 91. Born in Turner Valley, Alberta, she spent most of her life in Campbell River. Her first jobs were at Painter's Lodge and the Beehive Café.

Sharon and her husband, Russell, shared 68 wonderful years together. One of four children, she was predeceased by her brothers, Huey and Bill. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Geraldine (Aubrey), her daughters, Terri and Averil (Brian), and grandchildren, Janelle (Jovan), Jamie (Pam), Lindsay, and Tanner. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Aiden, Nathan, Levi, and Scarlett, as well as an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She loved to read, often found with her nose in a book and a novel or 2 next to her armchair. But her true calling was caring for others, especially children. She became the heart of the neighborhood, welcoming generations of kids into her home with open arms, a warm hug, and a plate of growlies—usually dippy eggs or chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. She lovingly called us all her Chicky birds, and to so many, she was simply "Grandma Sharon."

Sharon had a sharp wit, a big heart, and the funniest sayings. If things were going well, they were tickety-boo, and if you were watching too much TV, she'd remind you to turn off the idiot box and do something useful. She always noticed if you were dressed to the nines in your best duds or some new slacks. And when the day was done, it was time to hit the sack—or as she'd say, bunk duty.

She loved hosting big dinners for the holidays, filling the house with food, family, and laughter. A proud member of the Tyee Club, she reeled in a 45½-pound Tyee and never lost her excitement for horse racing. Whether it was Hastings Park, Santa Anita, Fraser Downs, or even the Kentucky Derby, she was always ready to place a bet and cheer on her favourites. When she wasn't travelling to the races, you could find her at the Royal Coachman, watching the horses, laughing, and catching up with family and old friends.

As per her wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the hospital in her name.

Sharon was the heart of our family and a safe haven for so many. She made the world a little softer, a little warmer, and a whole lot funnier. Her love and laughter will stay with us always.
