November 4, 1943 - August 7, 2018
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my Mom ~ Sandy. Sandy was the only daughter of Bud (F.N) and Doreen Crabb.
Growing up as an "airforce brat" Mom travelled the world with Gram and Gramps. Coal Harbour BC, Whitehorse, Yukon, Greenwood NS, Belgium and France...just to name a few. Mom started her career as a elementary school secretary in Ocean Falls BC. When arriving in Campbell River in 1980 she continued to work in various schools, Maple School, Oyster River, Penfield and Ocean Grove.
A true environmentalist Mom supported many causes ~ most recently MARS. One of her favourites, and she met a lot of wonderful people thru this organization as she was passionate about the birds...specifically eagles.
An avid photographer Mom would have the camera in hand waiting for the perfect shot. She was an artist with her crochet, cross stitch and scrapbooking, always having a project on the go....and she loved her books! Mom found love and companionship in her partner Dick Schoonmaker, they travelled the island and went on various tours together. Mom touched many lives over the years with her kind and gentle heart, and was always available to help out a friend.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors and nurses of the Campbell River hospital who took care of Mom while there...especially Dr. Coetzee.
Thank you everyone from our palliative home care team South..Tamara. And finally Carrie for helping me bring Mom home.
