April 12, 1925 - December 20, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Ruth Miller, on December 20th. She passed away peacefully on a beautiful morning at the age of 96. Ruth was born in 1925 in Georgetown, Ontario and came to Vancouver Island in the early 1950's with her husband, Elgin. She first lived in the Cowichan Valley and started a family there before settling in Campbell River where she lived out the rest of her years.
Ruth is predeceased by her parents Harry and Flora Goldham, Brother Bob Goldham, Husband Elgin Miller, and her sons, John and Bob. She will be missed by her son Tom (Lynn), grandchildren Nathon (Markie), Justin (Stacy), Scott (Prestlee), and Joelle (Cory), and her 6 (soon to be 7) great-grandchildren.
Ruth was an amazingly resilient, fiercely independent, and spirited woman. She loved cats, cards, beachcombing, travelling, mushroom picking, and fishing. As an avid and passionate hockey fan her whole life, she watched and attended countless games. She will be remembered for her 54-pound tyee and the quilting and needlepoint that she leaves behind.
The family would like to give deep thanks and appreciation for the staff at both Discovery Harbour Care Centre and Ironwood Place for the amazing quality of care and compassion that she received. They also would like to recognize her close friends who visited her often and kept her company.
