As a family we are sad to announce the passing of our mother, Ruth Joyce Depew, on Saturday February 6, 2021. Joyce was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on February 12, 1927 and grew up in Beaver Lodge, Alberta.
In 1948, she was awarded a nursing certificate from the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta. In September 1949, in Banff, Alberta Joyce married Dr John Depew, she then moved to Campbell River where she resided and raised her family. Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband in 1988 and her sister Mrs. Mary Proctor in 2006.
Joyce lived a full, happy and active life, she was the heart of the family. She will be deeply missed by her children Harry Depew (Leslie), Janice Johnston, Ruth Depew, grandchildren, Matthew Depew (Katrina), Danny Depew (Dana), Cathryn Johnston (Warren), Brittany Benjestorf, Nicole Angen (Joel), Alex Benjestorf (Sahresa) and great-grandchildren John, Brad, Grant, Tegan, Norah, Lucy, Frances, Able and Brodie, all of whom she cherished.
Joyce had warm and fulfilling relationships with her church community and many meaningful friendships throughout her life.
The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation for the loving care provided by Campbell River Home Care in the last year of her life.
A special thanks is extended to Dr Duncan Douglas for his exemplary care for our mother and the family.
Due to COVID restrictions a service of celebration will be available online through the Campbell Baptist Church.
