September 9th, 1931 – August 15, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Whitworth on August 15, 2015 at Campbell River, B.C.
Roy is survived by his wife Marlene of 61 years, his children Deborah Crooks (Vince), Darryl (Alexis), and Mark (Joy); his grandchildren April, Nicole, Rebecca, Spencer, Andrew, Liam, and Michael; his sisters Elaine (Ron) and Audrey (Bill), and brother-in-law Ian Bennett (Helene), and many other relatives. Roy was predeceased by his mother Dorothy, father Bill, and brother Bill.
Roy was born in Hamilton, Ontario and lived there until he decided to move his family west in 1969. His goal was to have his family live near the mountains and ocean, and all have enjoyed for the past 46 years.
Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He spent time trap shooting, along with buying and selling guns, which he seemed to enjoy. He also had a passion for photography over the years and would always look for that perfect photo opportunity. Roy worked in the printing profession and retired from the Queen’s Printer at Victoria in 1987.
Beyond all of these passions Roy’s commitment was to his family and friends. He always ensured his family was provided for and that their needs were met ahead of his own. Everyone who knew Roy thought of him as an honest, extremely caring, and passionate man.
Roy was an amazing dad, husband, grandfather, sibling, son, uncle, and friend. He will be missed greatly by all, beyond what words can describe.
We will miss you! Love and prayers from your entire family and friends!
A service for Roy will be held at the St Peter’s Anglican Church at 228 Dogwood Street South, Campbell River on Monday August 24th at 11 A.M. A reception will be held after the service.
