Rose Louise ROOS

January 17, 2006

Roos,

Rose Louise,

(nee Gibbs Pierce)

passed away peacefully at home in Campbell River on Tuesday January 17th. Born May 22, 1917 in Vancouver, B.C. Predeceased by her husband Armas Henry Roos whom she married in May, 1937; beloved mother of Mary Louise Ashley (Carl), Robert Henry Roos (Judy), Lila Diane Metcalf (Jon Ruiz), grandchildren Gordon Marshall Ashley, Shelley Ann Ashley, great-grandchildren Brandon Carl Ashley and Tara Marilyn Ashley, and her many brothers and sisters and their families.

Rose was part of a large pioneer family who settled in the Collingwood West area of Vancouver in the early 1900’s when Rupert Street was "farm country". She and her husband were devoted members of Central Presbyterian Church, where Armas was an elder for many years. In Campbell River, the congregation of Trinity Presbyterian has been like a family to her since she moved here after his death. She was a petite, soft-spoken lady who made a huge impact on the lives of everyone who knew her well, especially her whole family. She often said that her proudest accomplishments in life were her children. She will be greatly missed, but she has gone to her Saviour in perfect faith.

A service in her memory will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 145 Simms Road in Campbell River, at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25th. No flowers by request; for those who wish to honour her, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Campbell River Community Foundation, Box 734, Campbell River, B.C.
