In loving memory ~
Ron, a long-time resident of Campbell River, died in hospital under sedation for end-stage COPD on Wednesday, March 19, at 1:30am. He spent the last few days of his life medicated and sedated in hospital, with his daughters, Denise Eden Whitlow and Michele Elizabeth Whitlow Spracklin. They played The Beatles and watched Monty Python movies, hoping Ron could hear and enjoy in his last hours.
Ron was predeceased by his second wife, Marilyn Whitlow, and his ex-wife (mother of his daughters), Jutta Kowalenko. He was also predeceased by his sister, Colleen Obenaus, and survived by his sister, Kay Bonita Froude and Robert Henry Whitlow, as well as his daughters, and step-children, Travis Lambert and Michelle Hasselhurst.
Ron was born in Port Alberni on Sept 29, 1947 to Gertrude Bibbs and Harold "Harry" Whitlow.
Ron worked many years at the Elk Falls Mill in Campbell River, and he made many friends through his interests, such as his softball leagues and curling leagues. He was well regarded and liked for his sense of humour and work ethic. He was a good friend and father. He had a love of learning, which he passed on to his daughters, and a creative ability to make almost anything out of wood or metal.
Ron will be missed by many.
