Rodney Firman HARRIS

Passed away suddenly on October 24th in Courtenay, BC Born June 26th, 1942 in Lacombe, Alberta to Firman and Margaret Harris.

Rodney served in the armed forces with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry. Following his military service he moved to Gold River, where he was employed as a logging truck driver for many years, until his retirement in June 2007.

Survived by his wife Grace, daughter Susan Fletcher (Colin), son Jack, grandchild Connor Fletcher, mother Margaret Harris, sisters: Gayle Odo (Jim), Fay Sellars (Rudy), Peggy Harris (Paul) and brother Robert (Lori), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Firman (Jack) and sister Tracy Crumback. Rodney was a longtime member of the Gold River Branch #270 Royal Canadian Legion and participated in numerous legion functions. He enjoyed hockey, golf, fishing and travelling to Reno, the Calgary Stampede and Merrit Music Festival. Since his retirement he travelled across Canada to PEI by car, visiting old friends there along the way. Last year Rodney made an extensive trip to more exotic places, including Thailand and Cambodia; he loved it so much that he was going to return for six months this year.

A Celebration of Rodney's life will be held on Monday, November 3rd in the upper hall, Branch #17 Courtenay Legion at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
