October 7, 1943 - July 26, 2021
With the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Roderick James Galbraith. Rod was born October 7, 1943 in Vancouver, BC, to James and Irene Galbraith. The oldest of five, he spent his childhood growing up on Berkeley Street with his brothers, sisters and many friends. Rod lived a life of adventure and travel until he settled at Saratoga Beach to start a family.
A father, husband, brother, uncle and friend, he loved absolutely everything about life and found beauty in the smallest things - the sun on his face, a hummingbird at his feeder or a giant ripe tomato from his garden. An avid fisherman, gardener, painter, golfer, story teller and music lover, Rod always stopped to talk to passerby's and walked the beach as the "Mayor of Saratoga". Rod was kind, consistent, funny, gentle, generous, creative and patient. He welcomed all into his home with a glass of home made red wine and a garden tour. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by so many - his wife, Diane; son, Jeff (Kasandra); daughter, Lindsay (Ryan); grandchildren, Eliana and Luca, his brothers and sisters, Michael, David, Susan and Debbie, as well as his large extended family and friends.
We will forever reminisce over long summer days on the deck, chasing the sun around the yard, evenings of dancing and playing the blues on his guitar, listening to old records, countless stories of the days he spent travelling, and he was so proud of his 32 years at BC Tel. Forever in our hearts, we find strength in knowing he is now at peace and flying high.
T.T.F.N. Dad, Galbraith strong.
