Bobby, as his family and friends affectionately knew him, was born in Alert Bay, BC on June 16, 1935 and passed away at Campbell River, BC on February 10, 2007. He was also known as Mumxuw and finally as Chief Olsewidi. He was a hereditary chief of the WiumasgumQwe’Qwa’Sot’Enox people.

Bobby was predeceased by his parents, James and Flora and by his brothers Eugene and Oswald. He is sadly missed by Hilda, his wife and companion for 52 years, as well as by his sons, Harold, Eugene, Richard and Norman; his daughters, Sandra, Sherry, Annette and Jami; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Bobby is also survived by his “kidbrother” Alvin and sisters, Dora, Louisa, Daisy, Lucy, Emma and Mabel.

Bobby grew up in Alert Bay where he started his career in the fishing business with the ABC Fishing Company. He would go on to work with most of the major fishing companies on the coast. He later moved with his family to live in Campbell River and continued to take part in the fisheries.

The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Campbell River Hospital for the care and attention given to our loved one in his final days with us. Thank you also to the Pastors who came in to offer prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Thunderbird Hall, 1420 Weiwaikum Rd., Campbell River, BC., on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 10:00a.m., with Interment to follow at the Elk Falls Cemetery.
