DAVISON, Robert Andrew

January 1, 1953-May 20, 2014

HERO: person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.

Robert, known as Andy, was that exact definition to his family. His fight for his life was like no other. He battled cancer for seven long years and tried everything in his power to stay here on this earth with his high school sweetheart and partner for life, his wife Dawna Lee Davison. They had three wonderful children; Geoff his oldest son married Amery and gave him two beautiful grandchildren, Ashlyn and Aiden; Carrie his middle daughter married Travis Dashkewytch and gave him his three additional grandchildren, Carter, Kaylin and Gracie; Joni his youngest daughter, who makes him proud every single day and was widowed at a young age but gave him a son-in-law in Heaven to go fishing with, Lee Erricson.

Andy immigrated to Canada from England when he was three, and then lived all over the provinces of BC and Alberta. He became a Fish and Wildlife Officer and served the province of Alberta well. He retired as a bear specialist and manager of his region. He was extremely skilled and his love for animals and the environment was like no other. He also did a six year stint as a Calgary Fire Fighter.

Andy and Dawna retired in Campbell River in 2008, after falling in love with the community and the beautiful ocean. They sailed the waters here on the West Coast in their sailboat and the majestic, solemn coast seemed a peaceful place to spend the rest of their retired lives. They had many dreams of adventure that Dawna has promised to fulfill on their behalf.

Dawna and Andy lived by the seat of their pants so this is why Andy did not want a conventional funeral. Dawna is opening up their home at 2717 South Alder on May 24, 2014 from 11:00 am until the last guest leaves. Please join Dawna and family at their open house and celebrate Andy’s life with his family and friends.

Andy was very passionate about helping young children and their families who are undergoing a health crisis with a child, and would like all donations and in lieu of any flowers to go to Cameryn’s Cause. Donations can be sent to the following address:
