In Loving Memory ~
Bob Blad passed away peacefully on August 17, 2022. He was a resident of Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay at the time of his passing.
Bob was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and spent a majority of his youth in the Greater Vancouver area before leaving home to join the Navy.
After two years he left the Navy to train as a carpenter which fit very well with his need for near perfection in all he attempted. He was a great lover of the outdoors and enjoyed talking about his extensive travels of the world.
Eventually he went on to attend Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton for two years, and graduated with a diploma in Building Technology.
Later Bob moved back to BC and settled in Campbell River. Bob designed and wrote the Canadian and US patents for a kayak sail, which was used in many world class kayak races. Hunting, fishing, and boating were very much a huge part of his life.
In later years, he spent the winter months travelling the southern USA in a travel trailer with his long time partner Karen Youngson.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Donald and Elaine Blad.
He is survived by his sister Donna Guy (Jim Degrazio), brother Gordon Blad (Carol).
No services are planned as per his wishes.
