Reuben passed away peacefully and on his own terms at the age of 88 in Victoria, B.C. He is survived by his wife Josie, son Urbain (Linda), granddaughter Carla (Steve), grandson Christopher and great granddaughter Jadyn, his sisters Florence (Henry), Sylvia (Richard) and Lorraine.

While not an educated man in the academic sense of the word, his knowledge and ability to create and fix things was the envy of all who knew him. At an early age he struck out on his own and joined the Canadian Army where he served oversees during the Second World War. Later he ventured into logging and then worked for CN Railway in Prince Rupert and Victoria.

His interests were many, from hunting and beekeeping and enjoying the outdoors to his affiliation with the Masonic Order where he was a member of Mt. Shepherd Lodge in Sooke and Discovery Lodge in Campbell River and the Royal Canadian Legion in Victoria.

His outlook on life was pure and simple and he relished a good laugh with just about anyone he met. In his later years after retiring from his business in Campbell River he and Josie spent many years travelling, bowling and going for car rides “up island”. His family will miss him dearly.

Many thanks to Dr. DeMott and the nurses at Royal Jubilee and Victoria Hospice for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Saanich Peninsula Lodge, 8105 Derrinberg St. Saanichton B.C.
