olsen,

George Reginald

May 14, 1925 ~ May 23, 2004

George passed away after a brief illness in the Campbell River Hospital. He was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada when he was just a baby. His family homesteaded in several places in Alberta and BC before George and his wife settled in Campbell River in 1946.

He is survived by Agnes Maria, his wife of 57 years, his three children: Sharon (Garth), Eric, Ole (Donna), his grandchildren: Rhonda, Laurie, Tanya, Aaron, Eleni, Josiah, Taso, Joshua, Jennifer, Garrett, Shenay, and his great grandchildren: Nicole, Dustin, Shayna, and Derian.

He had an enduring love of the woods and a gift of working with the land. He was an incredibly committed logger and faller who is remembered as a tough team member of MacMillan Bloedell’s “ Camp Five.” He was always proud to share old tree falling stories with anyone who would listen.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Phipps, Dr. James, Dr. Khan, Dr. Mahoney and the nursing staff in the ICU for the wonderful care & attention he received. They made his last days as comfortable as possible. The also wish to acknowledge the continuous support and contributions of Pat Gerakios and Angela Olsen.

A Memorial Service was held Wednesday, May 26th at 1:00p.m. at The Living Waters Fellowship Church, 2222 Regent Road, Black Creek, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation or your charity of choice.
