September 15, 1931 - June 9, 2020
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Raymond George Humphrey on June 9th, 2020.
Ray was predeceased by his wife Lorna, and his son Jim in 2016. He is survived by his son John, daughter-in-law Lisa, and his grandchildren: Jeremiah, Ambrosia (David), Jillian (Joel), and Jack. He was also survived by his great-grandchildren, Leslie and Mona.
Born in St. Walberg, Saskatchewan, Ray moved to Vancouver as a teenager, and back to Saskatchewan a few years later. In 1964, while working on the west coast, he met his wife Lorna and they moved to the island together for work. In 1970, they made Campbell River their life-long home.
Ray was a strong father figure. He was always there for his family. He taught us to work hard, take care of friends and family, be honest, and to do onto others as you want others to do.
Ray loved spending time with his family, but his true love was his wife of 52 years. They enjoyed sitting at the Tyee Spit, enjoying a Tim Hortons coffee while looking out on the strait. Anything to spend time together. When Dad passed, we found drawers of heartfelt love notes and letters to each other, which truly encapsulates the wonderful relationship they had.
Rest in peace Raymond, you were a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
