In loving memory ~
It is with immense sadness that our beloved father and loving partner Ralph L. Terreberry passed away peacefully in his sleep with family at his side on December 29th at the age of eighty-nine. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ralph graduated from Wayne State University as a metallurgical engineer, married Lois in 1955, worked in Detroit, then took his family to Argentina in 1963 for 5 years. Upon return, he worked as GM of several steel forging plants, including one which he co-founded, PC Drop Forge in Port Colborne, Ontario.
He retired to Quadra Island, B.C. in 1992 where he built thirteen stunning cedar strip canoes; one for him and Lois, one for each of his children, along with several other woodworking projects. Shortly after moving across to Campbell River, Ralph was a caregiver to his wife for a 10-year period. In his spare time, enjoyed activities at the CR Community Centre and other locales.
Following Lois's passing, Ralph met and adored his beloved Dolores. Ralph was an intriguing, talkative soul that loved telling stories of his life, later labelled as "commercials".
Ralph was proud of his lifelong accomplishments; was happy to have lived 89 years and was at peace with his looming mortality. He will be admirably remembered for setting the bar so remarkably high. Ralph's wife of 60 years, Lois Terreberry and their grandson Shane Terreberry, predeceased him.
He is survived by his beloved Dolores Tataryn, his children Craig Terreberry (Kirsten Skafte), Roger Terreberry, Cindy Terreberry-White (Allen White), and Carol Ann Terreberry (Ian MacPhee); grandson Dale Terreberry (Stephany Terreberry), great-grandchildren Jackson, Alex and Addison; former daughter-in-law Theresa Terreberry, former son-in-law Tom VanIderstine; step-children Lynn Sti -Caillie (Chris Caillie), Russell Tataryn (Yvonne Croghan), Carmen Lee O'Brien (Larry O'Brien), and all of their children, along with their grandchildren.
The celebration of his life will be hosted in the Quadra Room at the Coast Discovery Inn in Campbell River on February 18th at 2 p.m. Ralph is to be interred together with Lois, at a graveside service at the Fonthill Cemetery in Fonthill, Ontario, beside Ralph's parents in May 2023.
