Popovich,
Radula (Ray)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray, after a brief struggle with lung cancer.
He leaves behind his wife of 1 1/2 years, Shirley (Leech), as well as Shirley’s children who loved him very much; Susan (Ernie) Dalley, Marie Lynch (Jim Marisi), Ron (Cindy) Leech,
Alison (Victor) Graham, and Kerry Leech, as well as their children and grandchildren.
He also leaves his great-niece, Dragana Vojinovic and his step-daughter-in-law, Ankica Tatic, both of Belgrad, Yogoslavia.
Ray was born in Yugoslavia and after fleeing from the Communists after WWII, he immigrated to the UK where he was taught the mining industry. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and mined in Cumberland until the mines closed. He then worked in Gold River in the logging industry and finally retired to Campbell River.
Ray was the most friendly and kind man and was loved by all who knew him. He especially loved little children very much. Ray was an avid walker who for 10 years walked the Sea Walk in rain, snow, and sun, he also loved playing cards with friends at the Community Hall. He spent a lot of time in Hawaii making 14 trips to bask in the sun.
