Pouwel “Paul” Wind

April 18, 1929 – April 18, 2010


Paul was born in Winterswijk, Netherlands on April 18th, 1929 and passed away in Courtenay, B.C. on April 18, 2010. He was predeceased by his parents Koert and Alke, nephew Johnny Malley and brothers in law Jan Ligtermoet and Tom Watt. Paul is survived by his sons; Kurt (Lisa) and Mike (Brenda); daughters Alisa Peake (Rick), Audrey Bergen (Lloyd) and Margaret Kitchen (Derek); grandchildren Kristy Peake, Justin Peake, Sonja Bergen, Leah Bergen, Stephanie Bergen, Samantha Wind, Jessica Wind, Corey Perigo, Amanda Perigo, Kurt Kitchen and Corey Kitchen; great grandchildren Cody Peake and Alyssa Hilchey all from Campbell River; brothers Ben (Wilma), Vancouver, Jack (Mavis), Abbotsford, Fred (Pat), Richmond, John (Alice), Halifax, Nova Scotia and Ken (Ottelena), Maple Ridge; sisters Willy Ligtermoet, Netherlands, Diny Lamberink (Herman), Maple Ridge and Alice Watt, Powell River and 14 nieces and 13 nephews. Paul immigrated to Canada with his family in 1953. After some traveling in Canada he resided in Vancouver. He met his wife and got married in 1958 and they had 5 children. He divorced in 1976 and resided in Vancouver. He moved to Campbell River in 1997 to be near his children and in 2002 when he was no longer able to care for himself he moved to Courtenay into Glacierview Lodge. Dad fought many battles with cancer since his early forties. A special thank-you to Glacierview Lodge staff for all the wonderful care they gave our dad.
