Peter left us in his 95th year to be with his wife Mary on July 11, 2020. He is predeceased by his parents John and Anne Sirant. Peter will be missed by his children John, Samuel (Bonnie), Rolanda (Hans Vancornewel), Daniel (Lorraine Tonner), Nickolas (Anna), and grandchildren Katrina, Christina, Alexandra, Emma, Felicia, Angela & Shawn.
Born in the Polish Ukraine he was taken to a forced labour camp when he was just a youth in WWII. He was never again to see his siblings or parents. He immigrated to Canada in 1947, starting as a lumberman in Quebec, working his way to Ocean Falls. He met and married Mary in 1951. They had all 5 of their children in Ocean Falls.
Peter and Mary loved to attend the local dances, and won a polka contest in Ocean Falls, after competing with hundreds of couples. He was an avid fisher and enjoyed bringing the kids out on the boat with him. He won many derbies over the years. When the town closed Peter and Mary moved to Gold River, where he worked in the mill until his retirement. They later settled in Campbell River in 1991. Peter loved to garden. He had many fruit trees, including plum, cherry, apple, and grape vines. He enjoyed making wine, which he shared with friends and neighbours.
