May 1, 1944 - July 22, 2020
Rob passed away peacefully at North Island Hospital, he fought his battle with courage and dignity, and went to his eternal home on July 22, 2020.
Rob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jan. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great granddaughter: Darcy, (Ramon), and Josh, (Laurie), Kaydee, (Tyler, and Indira), Shai, Charlie, (Jesse), and Wade. His brother Brad, (Lillian), sister in law Helen, brother in law Norman, and his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Alan and Ruth, his brother and sister in law Jack and Carol, and his nephew Matthew.
Born in Middlesbrough, England, coming to Canada as a young boy. His early years were spent in Langley Prairie, then in Campbell River, and Victoria where he joined the navy at the age of 17, serving out of Esquimalt. He met Jan in Victoria in 1967 and they were married later that same year. Rob was a great advocate of young people, serving as a Big Brother, a baseball coach, and officer of the Navy League of Canada and leading a youth group at his church. After retirement, Rob volunteered with Campbell River Hospice Society as a grief counsellor. Rob pursued this with dedication and compassion. Rob will be remembered as a strong family man, and a devoted friend. We will miss his smile and his laughter.
