It is with an immeasurable sadness we announce our Mothers passing.

Just short of her 96th Birthday, Mom (also known as Mum, Nanny, Grandma, Great Nanny, Great Grandma, or GG) passed away peacefully at Evergreen Seniors Home, with family by her side. She was very happy to be living at Evergreen the past couple of years where she had become close to many of the residents and staff.

Mom always said she had a "120 year plan". Though not quite achieving this goal she maintained her remarkable memory and wit right up until the end.

Predeceased by Husband - LJ (Pat) Martin, Daughter - Donna Sharkey, Step-Daughter - Joanne Gordon, and Grandson - Christopher Marshall.

She will be sorely missed by her Family; Daughters: Carol Marshall and Janis MacDougall; Son: David Williams, and Son-in-Law - Jim MacDougall; Grandchildren: Jill Stanley (Al), Robert Sharkey (Vanessa), Kara Sharkey (Jason Harker), Sara Marshall (Jason Stewart), Brian Marshall, Jamie MacDougall (Lindsay), Joanna MacDougall; Great Grandchildren: Colby, Jake, Jenelle (Stanley), Keegan, Elissa, Jake, Tyrone, Brendan, Jason, Meadow, Daniel, (Sharkey) Kade, Logan and Madison (Sharkey-Harker), Gavin, Willam (Marshall), Morley and Laura (MacDougall); Step-Daughter - Lynn Temoin (Doug), Step-Son-in-Law - Wayne Gordon; Step-Grandchildren: Natalie Pentney (Jon), Scott Gordon (Laura), Marla Temoin (Levon Young); Step-Great Grandchildren: Cohen and Mayson Pentney, Kaden and Layla Gordon, Joni and Miles Temoin/Young; Extended Grandchildren/Great-Grandchildren: Matthew, Chelsea, Lee, Coen, Quinlyn, Pendergast, Kevin, Felicia, Johnny Coyle, Tom and Brittany Coyle.

Mom also leaves a large close extended family including: Harry Lilburn, Carol Benton (Roshan) Kelli, Melt, Liam Emms, Kathy Rae, Patty and John Coyle. Her "Welch connection": Edward, Glenys, Menna, Victor, Barbara, and their families, as well as numerous kinship all referring to her as "Aunty Freda" or outright as "Mom"!

A beautiful, classy Lady with a great sense of humour. She loved music, dancing, gardening and art as well as completing her daily Times Colonist crossword puzzles. She adored her many grand puppies and seemed to manage a cuddle with many of the dogs that came by to visit or lived at ESH.

Mom remained very close to an intimate group of her childhood friends, made many lasting friendships during her time in both Ocean Falls and Campbell River and maintained a tight knit group of friends made through avid participation in the Truck Loggers Association.

Mom could not get enough of seeing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished. When she knew that her time was getting close she frequently mentioned that it hurt to think of not seeing the little ones grow.

Our heart-felt thanks to Dr. Val Veerapen, Evergreen Seniors Home administration and staff for the incredible care given to our Mom. There are always some who become extremely special such as Kevin, Sonya, Tess, Seru, Carrie, Mike, Lipstick Linda, Bingo Barb, Colin the Caller, and Mike R.

Celebration of Life to be held on May 11th at 1 pm, at the Anchor Inn & Suites.
