December 21, 1953 - November 3, 2024
In loving memory ~
Patrick Charles Varrin, our very loved family member (father, grandfather, big brother, friend, spouse) passed away on November 3, 2024 after a one-year valiant battle with cancer.
Pat was born on December 21, 1953 in Winnipeg to Jack and Florence Varrin (nee Matson). He was the eldest of three. His fondest memories growing up was living on the family farm in McIntrye (Port Arthur) now Thunder Bay later moving to Shuniah Street.
Pat's proudest moments were when he married the love of his life Beverly Varrin (nee Blanchette) and the birth of his children Darren and Cassie. This also included his time on the race track as a timing tech, mechanic, racing his own cars. More importantly watching his wife, son and granddaughter gain success on the race track in their own rite. Pat was our hero; he was an accomplished heavy-duty mechanic; a guy who could fix anything mechanical, loved to take on projects like rebuilding cars and could be found driving his Lil Red Express truck at Christmas time dressed as Santa suit to share Christmas cheer.
He was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Over the last number of years, Pat renewed his interest in motorcycles, seeking 'wind therapy' on his Harleys as often as possible. He is survived by his son Darren (Tanya-Linken, Mia), Cassandra (Chris-Jacob, Lily), special nephew Jeff (Maria), sister Linda (Grant-Ryan, Brandon), brother Mike (Kelly-Wynne, Will), partner Patricia Leduc, in-laws Mark and Wendy as well as numerous extended family members. Pat was predeceased by both his parents, wife, sister in-laws (Bonnie, Crystal, Debbie) and father in-law Mel.
The family is grateful for the care and companionship Pat received from Patricia over the last year. Patricia was Pat's loving spouse of 3.5 years and had great love for him and his family, children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
