Nettie “Bubba”

passed away peacefully at the Campbell River General Hospital on Thursday, August 5th, 2004.

Nettie (Bubba) was born in Deveurnay, Alberta on September 7th, 1939, but moved with her family to Surrey B.C. at an early age where she attended school. Nettie’s first job was as a psych. nurse at the Essendale Institute in Vancouver. She and her husband Alex moved to Campbell River in 1961 where Alex started and ran a successful barber shop business and Nettie started raising their two children, Brent and Gwen. In the mid 70’s Nettie started working for Plaza Bakery and it was here that she developed a passion for cooking. “Bubba” had many passions in life, her family, gardening, cooking and bowling were what her life was all about. When her two grandchildren , Courtney and Alix were born Bubba’s life was complete. Many days during the summer you could stop by Nettie’s house and see Nettie and her two granddaughters canning fruit, jam, vegetables or anything else that was grown in her bountiful garden.

She will be forever remembered by her loving son Brent (Roberta) Campbell River, daughter Gwen of Victoria, granddaughters Courtney and Alix of Campbell River, sisters, Ann of Campbell River, Leona of Qualicum and twin sister Nancy (Brian) of Nelson. She will be especially missed by her dog Buttons and her cat PurrPurr. Nettie was predeceased by her loving husband Alex, her brothers George, Walt and Bob, her sisters Betty and Sally.

There will be no funeral by request, but if so desired, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Immediate family and close friends are invited to an open house at 621 Springbok Road, Campbell River, on Thursday August 12th, 2004, from 1:00pm till 4:00pm.

Brent and Gwen would like to thank Dr. Walker and the staff in the ICU for their wonderful care.
