Nelson Joseph Deck passed away on 26 July in Campbell River. Nelson was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He played on the University of Saskatchewan Huskies basketball and football teams.
Nelson was the Director of Engineering for Campbell River for 15 years. He served as the area representative for the Association of Professional Engineers of British Columbia for 15 years and also served as a director of the Association. He was a director of Evergreen Savings Credit Union for 10 years. After retirement, he discovered the joy of golfing at Storey Creek and shared many rounds with his good golfing buddies.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine, his sons, Gordon (Sally), Graham (Samantha), and by his daughters, Cathy Enns and Colleen Lind (Tim). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and his sisters, Helen Jarvis and Phyllis Hubenig.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 34 South Alder St., Campbell River, on 3 August at 10:00 a.m.
